The focus of Tracey's design for this hairstick is a dark, gleaming Black Agate gemstone. A popular Gemini Zodiac stone, traditional beliefs about the powers of Agate include its ability to cure scorpion stings and snake bites, soothe the mind, and protect the wearer from contagious illness.
To complement the focal stone, Tracey selected Black Onyx and Garnets. Garnets have been popular for many centuries, with beliefs about their powers including protecting the wearer from poisons and bad dreams, while modern Crystal healers believe that Onyx will help to ease fear, worry and other overwhelming emotions, and even soothe or resolve conflicts in relationships! The dangles were connected with a decorative solid sterling-silver triple station connector, and the entire design was finished with sterling silver accents.
To set off the black of the Agate and the red of the Garnets, we picked out a single piece of red and black banded Dymondwood for stick itself. Dymondwood is made from layered hardwood that has been impregnated with dyes and resin, then put under extreme pressure to densify and bond the material. The end result is a dense, durable material whose waterproof quality makes it absolutely ideal for wet or damp bunning. Rob hand-turned the hairstick, which was polished to a gleaming, glossy finish. The effective length of the hairstick is six inches, while the entire piece measures in with a length of seven and three-eighth inches.
