For this piece, Tracey chose a beautiful 14mm Carnelian gemstone as the focus. The traditional birthstone for August, Carnelian is a warm, reddish-brown gemstone whose popularity has endured for many centuries, having been popular from the Ancient Egyptians all the way to the present day. Beliefs about the properties of Carnelian have ranged from its ability to cleanse the blood, to its granting the wearer both good luck and protection from evil influences.
For the dangles, Tracey selected smaller Carnelian gemstones set with Ice Flake Quartz. Ice Flake Quartz is produced by exposing crystal-clear Quartz to great heat, and then cooling it rapidly - the internal structure fractures, giving it a reflective quality that produces occasional flashes of prismatic fire. To finish the design, Tracey chose a striking sterling silver feather dangle, and set the design with all sterling-silver findings.
To complement the red of the focal gemstone, we selected a beautiful piece of Canarywood. Originating in South and Central America, Canarywood is usually a pale yellow-brown, but this piece features beautiful, warm streaks of reddish color running throughout. Rob hand-turned the hairstick, which was finished with a water-resistant satin coating, making it ideal for wet or damp bunning. The stick has an effective length of four and seven-eighth inches, and with the design set on top, the piece measures in with a total length of seven inches.
As with all of our hairsticks, this piece comes in an elegant drawstring bag, making it an ideal gift to
pamper yourself with or to give to someone special. We believe that hair jewelry should be well protected and presented
just as nicely as other fine jewelry, so Tracey has set out to make the highest quality gift bags she can.
All of our gift bags are hand-made from plush black velvet, lined with a luxurious, rich purple bridal satin.
Each bag is custom-made to fit every piece perfectly, and finished with a sumptuous pair of silky tassels.
Everything has been hand-made by Tracey, all the way down to the perfectly matching drawstring cord. The finished
result is absolutely wonderful, and we think you'll be as happy with the gift bag as you are with our hairsticks!
