One of our more lightweight hairsticks, Tracey was careful to create a lighter jewelled design for this piece, featuring a single, beautiful 12mm focal stone in a sterling silver setting.
The piece was designed with the colors of Autumn in mind, combining the browns of fallen leaves with the soft blue-gray of Autumn's gentle rainclouds. Eagle's Eye, also known as Pietersite, is a semi-precious stone that was discovered in 1962. It shows a lot of variety in color, and for this piece, Tracey selected a cool blue-gray stone, layered with warmer browns. To set off the focal stone, she selected a delicate, spiralling sterling silver wirework cage bead to form the stem. Sterling silver accents complete the design.
For the hairstick itself, we chose a beautiful piece of Zebrawood. Originating mainly in Gabon and Camerooon, Zebrawood's name comes from its wonderfully heavy banding, which gives the finished piece a truly unique appearance. Rob hand-turned the stick, which was finished with a protective water-resistant semi-gloss coating, making this stick ideal for wet or damp bunning. The effective length of the stick is four and seven-eighth inches, and the entire length of the piece is six and three-sixteenth inches.
