Tracey's design for this piece features a single, beautiful 12mm Hematite focal bead, set with bright sterling silver accents. This semi-precious gemstone bead has the highly polished gunmetal color inherent to Hematite; the contrasting brightness of sterling silver complements it wonderfully, bringing out both the sheen of the silver and the deep beauty of the Hematite.
For the stick itself, we chose Bloodwood. An exotic wood native to South America, Bloodwood is dense and durable, making it ideal for hairsticks, and its vibrant color is a perfect complement to the Hematite and sterling silver jewelry. The hairstick was hand-turned by Rob, and finished with a protective water-resistant semi-gloss coating that makes it ideal for wet or damp bunning. In normal indoor lighting, the wood shows a very deep wine color, but in daylight or white lighting the wood's color brightens to the more vivid red in our picture that earned its name. The stick has an effective length of four and a half inches, and the total length of the piece is five and five-eighth inches.
