For the focus of this design, Tracey picked out a wonderful artisan-crafted Lampwork Art Glass bead. Lampwork Art Glass is a fine quality Lampwork glass, and this particular bead features wonderful blue and green swirls with flashes of lavender-pink and orange.
To complement the swirling color of the focal bead, Tracey set the design above a cut-crystal Sterling Silver rondelle. The cut crystal catches the light and displays fiery flashes of prismatic color, beautifully setting off the mixed artistry of the Lampwork Art Glass. The entire design was finished with Sterling Silver accents.
For the stick itself, we chose a piece of blue-green banded Alabaster Dymondwood. Dymondwood is made from layered hardwood that has been impregnated with dyes and resin, then put under extreme pressure to densify and bond the material. The end result is a dense, durable material whose waterproof quality makes it absolutely ideal for wet or damp bunning. Rob hand-turned the hairstick, which was polished to a gleaming, glossy finish. The finished design has an effective length of four and three-quarter inches, and a total length of six and three-quarter inches.
