The central element of this design is an exquisite, hand-chosen lampwork art glass bead, decorated with floral patterns that imitate the style of Monet. Lampwork glass is made by applying heat carefully to glass, and it takes a talented artist to be able to produce these wonderful designs instead of the more abstract patterns that are far more commonly seen in lampworking.
To set off the design, Tracey selected simple freshwater pearls that add a touch of elegance without drawing any attention away from the beautiful focal bead. The entire design is set and finished with sterling silver accents.
For the hairstick itself, we selected a mottled piece of Gabon Ebony, featuring Ebony's traditional rich black run through with soft brown shades. Originating in Africa, this hardwood is famous both for incredible density, and yields strong, smooth, beautiful hairsticks. Rob hand-turned this piece, which was finished with a water-resistant satin coating, making this piece ideal for wet or damp bunning. The hairstick's effective length is five and one-quarter inches, and the entire design measures in with a total length of seven and three-eighth inches.
