The focal gemstone of this piece is a beautiful 18mm fire agate gemstone, which Tracey put into a sterling silver setting. This kind of fire agate, which possesses a beautiful red-orange brightness, is formed by subjecting the naturally translucent agate to great heat, and then cooling it quickly. The result is beautiful fragmentation that runs throughout the gemstone, giving it a unique appearance. As a gemstone, Agate has been prized throughout history. Some believed that it had the power to cool the mind and give the wearer mental clarity, while more modern beliefs include its ability to promote love, or even improve your luck in card games!
To complement the wonderful red-oranges of the focal bead, Tracey selected a number of beautiful Amber gemstones. Usually between 30 and 90 million years old, Amber is fossilized tree sap, and is believed to have been the first material ever used to craft jewelry. Many people believe amber to possess spiritual powers - some believe it is a protective amulet, while others believe it is a natural channel for spiritual energy, able to relieve depression and lethargy in the wearer.
The dangles were accented with the addition of several yellow-amber glass flowers, and the central dangle was completed with the addition of a Sterling Silver butterfly. The entire design was then set and finished with Sterling Silver accents.
To continue the color theme for the design, we chose a beautiful piece of Tulipwood. Tulipwood is a naturally dense and strong hardwood, and with its pale wood run through by beautiful, deep wine-colored bands, it is an ideal choice for a hairstick. The piece was hand-turned, and then finished with a beautiful, waterproof satin coating, making this stick ideal for wet or damp bunning. The stick's effective length is five and three-quarter inches, and with the jeweled design set in place, the entire piece measures in at seven and seven-eighth inches.
